Hunkele then carried that momentum into singles play where he grinded out a tough fought three-set win over Matthew Burke in the #3 position. Hunkele won the opening set 6-3, but would fall in set two 6-1, requiring a third-set tiebreak to decide the match. The Pitt-Greensburg senior outlasted Burke by a score of 10-7 in the tiebreak to pick up the win.
