Sivek shines but Lady Bobcats fall at No. 21 Catholic, 76-58

Chianti Sivek (Finleyville, PA, Ringgold) had a breakout game with a career high 22 points but Pitt-Greensburg fell on the road to host Catholic University 76-58 in the first round of the CUA Holiday Tournament in Washington DC.
UPG (5-6) was up against their first top 25 opponent of the season in Catholic (No. 21 in NCAA Div III) and after a slow start, the Bobcats managed to keep themselves in the game. Catholic (10-0) jumped out to an early lead and took advantage of turnovers to build a 13 point lead at the half.
The Bobcats hung tough in the second half, cutting the lead to just 7 points after a three pointer from
Amanda Estok (Monroeville, PA, Gateway) with just over 12 minutes remaining. However, they were unable to get any closer and Catholic upped it's unbeaten streak to 10 games on the season.
UPG shot well on the day, going 21-47 (44.7%) including an impressive 52% in the first half. Unfortunately, CUA outrebounded Pitt-Greensburg 48-24 on the day and they also forced 23 UPG turnovers.
UPG was paced by Sivek's 22 points while sophomore
Morgan Biddle (Flinton, PA, Glendale) added 15 points of her own.
Pitt-Greensburg will move on to play Oswego State in the consolation game of the CUA Holiday tournament on Monday. Game time is set for 2PM.
