Bobcats Fall to Penn State Altoona 6-3

Box Score Greensburg, PA:  The Pitt-Greensburg men's tennis team dropped a tough fought 6-3 decision to visiting Penn State Altoona on Sunday evening.  With the loss the Bobcats drop to 2-6 on the season and 2-2 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.  Penn State Altoona improves to 3-2 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

Pitt-Greensburg dropped two of the three doubles matches with their lone win coming from Jeremy Niemiec (Scottdale, PA, Southmoreland) and Anthony Backowski (Harrison City, PA, Penn Trafford) by a score of 8-1.

Singles victories were claimed by Zachary Pivirotto (Export, PA, Franklin Regional) in the #1 spot, 6-3/6-4 and from Doug Smeltzer (Latrobe, PA, Greater Latrobe) in the #4 spot 6-1/6-1.  Unfortunately for the Bobcats, #2 Niemic and #3 Backowski came up on the losing side of two hard fought tie-break matches.

Pitt-Greensburg travels to Pitt-Bradford on Friday, March 5th at 6:00pm to take on the Panthers in an important conference clash with play-off implications.
