GREENSBURG, Pa:  The Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team found themselves in a familiar place Saturday afternoon; a grind it out, highly contested match that could go either way.

That was pretty much the theme of the 2012 season, with the Bobcats coming out on the winning end more times than not.  Unfortunately on the first home game of the 2013 season, UPG fell on the losing end, dropping a 2-0 decision to Geneva College.

Geneva got on the board first in at the 26:04 mark of the first half when Kimberly Orihel was able to beat UPG keeper Amanda Hydock, giving the Golden Tornadoes a 1-0 advantage.  UPG trailed 1-0 at the half, knowing that the next goal would most likely be the difference maker in the game.

The Bobcats hung tough, even though scoring chances were at premium.  Junior Tiffanni Downey (Derry, PA, Derry) recorded the only two shots on goal for UPG on the day, both coming in the second half.

Geneva caught a break in the 69th minute when Elise Mann's shot from just outside the 18 yard line clanked off the post and in, making it a 2-0 deficit for UPG.

Geneva's lead would hold true, evening their record to 1-1, while dropping the Bobcats to 1-2 on the young season.

Not to be overlooked on Saturday was the play of UPG goalkeeper Amanda Hydock (Burrell, PA, Burrell)    Hydock was outstanding in net for the Bobcats, making 14 saves and thwarting numerous Geneva scoring chances.  Her play kept the Bobcats in the game and put them in a position to even the score in the second half, but it just didn't happen for UPG on this day.

Pitt-Greensburg will be back on the field next Friday when they travel to Washington and Jefferson College for a 7pm night game.
