Bobcats close regular season, down D’Youville 8-1

Box Score GREENSBURG, PA:  The Pitt-Greensburg men's tennis team picked up their eighth win of the season after defeating D'Youville College 8-1.  The Bobcats have clinched the #2 seed in the upcoming Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships after putting together a 5-1 conference record.  On the season, UPG stands at 8-2.  D'Youville falls to 1-4 in the AMCC and 2-8 overall.

Pitt-Greensburg got off on the right foot, sweeping the doubles portion of Sunday's match against the Spartans.  The pairings of David Cenkner/Tomas Monti would win 8-3, Jeremy Niemiec/Matt Kimmel 8-2, and Tyler Fox/Jakob Schafer would also triumph 8-5.

The Bobcats would carry the momentum into the singles portion, picking up victories in five of the six matches.  #1 Cenkner, #3 Niemiec, #5 Fox, and #6 Schafer would all earn straight set victories.   Kimmel would also pick up a victory in the #4 spot, but needed an extra set to do so, after a 4-6/6-2/6-4 battle.

With conference play and the regular season wrapped up for the Bobcats, they'll have to wait for the AMCC championships.  This year's tournament will be held at Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, PA on Saturday, April 26th.
