Box Score ERIE, PA:  The Pitt-Greensburg men's tennis team fell in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference finals, 5-4 after an outright battle with the Barons of Franciscan University.  Not even a month ago, the #2 seeded Bobcats would suffer a 9-0 sweep at the hands of Franciscan, but that would not be the case at Sunday's championships.

Pitt-Greensburg would pick up their first point of the day during the doubles portion after the pairing of Tyler Fox (Mt. Pleasant, PA, Southmoreland) and Matt Kimmel (Somerset, PA, Somerset) would hand FUS's Rob Butcher and Joe Staniszewski an 8-6 defeat.  The Barons would earn victories at the #1 and #2 spots to take a 2-1 advantage into the single's competition.

The Bobcats would refuse to go away quietly, standing up to the defending champions and picking up wins at #1, #5, and #6 singles.  #1 David Cenkner (Acme, PA, Mt. Pleasant) handed Paul Jarzynka his first conference loss of the season in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.  #6 Kimmel would finish next, also winning in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5.  #5 Fox would have to battle through three sets to pick up UPG's fourth victory of the day by 6-1, 5-7, and 6-3 scores.  Unfortunately for the Bobcats, Franciscan would pick up wins at #2, #3, and #4 singles to take the AMCC Championship 5-4.

2014 was a banner year for the Pitt-Greensburg men's tennis team.  Under first year head coach, Maria Iovino, the Bobcats finished with the best record in school history with nine wins and three losses.  Their second place finish during the regular season and at the conference Championships also signify firsts for the up and coming program.
