Box Score
GREENSBURG, Pa: Powered by two goal performances from Courtney Carroll (Irwin, PA, Hempfield), Tiffanni Downey (Derry, PA, Derry) and Abigail Pasierb (Chambersburg, PA, St. Maria Goretti), the Pitt-Greensburg Lady Bobcats cruised to a 7-0 home victory over SUNY-Canton Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Pitt-Greensburg improves to 3-4 on the season while the Kangaroos of SUNY Canton drop to 3-6.

Pasierb got the Bobcat scoring started just over 4 minutes into the game when she took a pass from Carroll inside the box and one-timed it into the back of the net, giving UPG a 1-0 lead.

The Bobcats would score six more times on the day, with all goals coming in pairs just a minute apart.

In the 20th minute, freshman Madison Bernard (Duncansville, PA, Hollidaysburg) headed in a beautiful cross off a corner kick from Stephanie Wehner (Pittsburgh, PA, North Hills), extending the Bobcat lead to 2-0.  It was the first collegiate goal for Bernard.  Just over a minute later, the Bobcats had the exact same situation on the opposite side of the field and Downey headed in her first goal of the season off another corner from Wehner, making it 3-0 UPG.

The next wave of scoring would come in the 36th and 37th minute of the game.  After Maggie Kelly (Imperial, PA, West Allegheny) was taken down in the box, Carroll would finish off the penalty kick for her third goal of the season, making it 4-0.  A minute later, Bernard would send a pass up to Carroll who broke free on a breakaway and beat the keeper for her second goal in less than 2 minutes.

Pitt-Greensburg would hold a 5-0 lead at the half.  In the second frame, Downey netted her 2nd of the game and season just 4 minutes in, off pass from Pasierb.  Less than a minute later, Pasierb would round out the scoring with her 2nd of the game, set up by Maggie Kelly (Imperial, PA, West Allegheny).

Shannon Edwards (Fayetteville, PA, Chambersburg) was back in goal on Saturday after missing 1 game due to injury.  She was rarely tested on this afternoon, having to make only 3 saves, as the Bobcats outshot the Kangaroos 24-4 on the day.  UPG also held a 9-5 edge in corner kicks, converting two of those opportunities into goals.

Pitt-Greensburg will be back in action next Thursday night (Sept20) when they travel to Greenville, PA in a matchup against Thiel College.  Game time is set for 6:30pm.
