ALTOONA, Pa: The Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team ended up on the wrong end of a 70-53 decision after a Wednesday road trip to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe Penn State Altoona.
The loss evens the Bobcats' conference record and 1-1 and 3-5 on the season as Altoona move to 2-1 in the AMCC and 2-4 overall.
The Bobcats would get off to great start, opening the first quarter on an 11-2 run that was capped by a
Sylvia Stuart layup at the 5:00 minute mark. PSA would battle back and with less than a minute left in the quarter a Lion basket would bring them within one at 16-15.
Emily Nelson would answer with jumper to close out the quarter's scoring, giving her eight points and the Bobcats an 18-15 lead to take into the second.
A
Kelsey Oddis layup at the midway point of the second would stretch UPG's advantage to six at 24-18. Unfortunately for the Bobcats, a 12-4 run from the Lions would close out the half and place them behind for the first time of the evening at 30-28 heading into the half.
A tough third quarter would see just seven Pitt-Greensburg points, but a
Lyndy Baer layup with 12 seconds remaining would keep the Bobcat deficit in single digits at 44-35.
Pitt-Greensburg would get no closer as Altoona opened up the scoring in the final quarter eventually handing the Bobcats the 70-53 defeat.
A trio of Bobcats finished in double figures led by
