Men’s Tennis tops Pitt-Bradford 8-1
Box Score OLEAN, NY: The Pitt-Greensburg men's tennis team took eight of nine matches from branch campus rival Pitt-Bradford to improve to 2-1 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference and 2-3 on the season. Conversely, the Panthers fall to 0-3 in conference play and 2-5 overall.
The Bobcats got off to a great start taking all three doubles matches to open the afternoon's conference clash. The #1 pairing of
Jeremy Niemiec (Scottdale, PA, Southmoreland) and
Anthony Backowski (Harrison City, PA, Penn Trafford) would come out on top of an outright battle by a 9-7 score, followed by 8-5 victory from the #2 duo of
Tyler Fox (Mt. Pleasant, PA, Southmoreland) and
Izaak Fulmer-Moffat (Derry, Pa, Derry) and an 8-0 shutout by
Jakob Schafer (New Kensington, PA, Valley) and
Luke Zeleznik (Scottdale, PA, Southmoreland) in the #3 spot.
The Bobcats good fortune would continue in the singles matches, picking up victories in the #2 through #6 spot with Backowski, Fox, Schafer, Fulmer-Moffat, and Zeleznik all picking up wins in that order.
Pitt-Greensburg won't have much time to rest as their back in action tomorrow, travelling back to Greensburg for a Sunday nonconference contest with Bethany College at 6:00pm.
