Pitt-Greensburg edged by Altoona
Box Score GREENSBURG, PA: Just one match separated the Pitt-Greensburg and Penn State Altoona tennis teams on Saturday evening. Unfortunately for the Bobcats, they'd come out on the wrong end of a 5-4 tightly contested Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference contest.
With the loss UPG drops to 2-3 in the AMCC and 3-5 on the year while PS-Altoona improves to 5-1 in conference play and 7-1 overall.
During the douples portion Pitt-Greensburg would pick up a single win coming in 8-6 fashion from the #3 pairing of
Jakob Schafer (New Kensington, PA, Valley) and
Luke Zeleznik (Scottdale, PA, Southmoreland).
The Bobcats would bounce back in the singles matches but come up just short after recording three victories.
Tyler Fox (Mt. Pleasant, PA, Southmoreland) would earn a straight-set 6-1/6-1 win at the #3 spot followed by #5
Izaak Fulmer-Moffat (Derry, Pa, Derry) who triumphed 6-3/6-2. #6 Zeleznik would cap the Bobcat victories, winning 6-1/7-6.
The AMCC playoff picture will pan out after Pitt-Greensburg's final conference game tomorrow, April 12
th as they play host to Mount Aloysius for a 6:00pm contest at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
