Chatham's second half attack too much for Women's Soccer
Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa: A strong second half attack helped Chatham overtake the Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team, as the Cougars defeated the Bobcats on Saturday afternoon, 2-0.
UPG now sits at 1-5 on the non-conference slate, while Chatham remains undefeated at 5-0.
Pitt-Greensburg would get off to a hot start, with two shots on goal in the first five minutes. Goalie Shannon Edwards (Fayetteville, PA, Chambersburg) would keep Chatham off of the board with four first half saves.
The Cougars would strike twice in the second half. Taylor Yester would score to give Chatham the 1-0 lead in the 55th minute, and a Julie Bruening goal in the 65th minute gave the Cougars some breathing room.
Both Courtney Carroll (Irwin, PA, Hempfield) and Chelsea Sundy (Aliquippa, PA, Hopewell) would register two shots on goal for UPG. Edwards had six saves in net for the Bobcats.
Pitt-Greensburg will travel to Bethany College on Wednesday in their last non-conference match before conference play begins next Saturday. Kickoff is at 5:00pm in Bethany, WV.
