CRESSON, Pa: Sophomore
Kelsey Oddis (Lower Burrell, PA, Burrell) registered a team-high 12 points and grabbed six rebounds for Pitt-Greensburg, but it wasn't enough as the Bobcats fell to Penn State Behrend, 60-50, in the regular-season finale for both teams. With the setback, Pitt-Greensburg falls to 10-15 overall and 8-10 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC).
The Lions jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead to open the first quarter before a three-pointer from senior guard
Emily Nelson (New Stanton, PA, Hempfield) cut the lead in half. Head Coach Erin Eaton's squad eventually took the lead at 9-8 on a pair of free throws from Oddis at the 3:38 mark and the teams eventually settled for an 11-11 stalemate after the opening frame. Penn State Behrend started to take control midway through the second quarter, fueled by an 11-0 run that staked the Lions to a 29-15 lead. The Bobcats held Behrend scoreless for the final 1:56 of the half, however, cutting the lead to 31-20 after one half of play.
In the second half, the lead swelled to 15 early in the third quarter, but a three-pointer from senior
Amanda Estok (Monroeville, PA, Gateway) kept the Bobcats within ten points at 48-38 entering the fourth quarter. However, Penn State Behrend turned Pitt-Greensburg away in the end, claiming the ten-point victory and the #2 seed in the upcoming AMCC Tournament. In addition to Oddis, senior
Chianti Sivek (Finleyville, PA, Ringgold) and Nelson found double-digit scoring, finishing with 11 points and ten points, respectively.
The #6 seed in the AMCC Tournament, the Bobcats will travel to #3 Pitt-Bradford for an opening round game on Wednesday, February 24
th with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 pm.
