Men’s Tennis tops D’Youville 8-1
Box Score GREENSBURG, Pa: The Pitt-Greensburg men's tennis team capped their trio of conference matches on Sunday with an 8-1 downing of D'Youville College.
With wins by the Bobcats on Saturday and Sunday they improve to 2-1 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference and 5-2 on the season. The Spartans fall to 0-5 in conference play and 0-9 overall.
For the second night in a row, the Bobcats swept the doubles portion of play. Zachary Pivirotto (Export, PA, Franklin Regional) and Doug Smeltzer (Latrobe, PA, Greater Latrobe) made short work of their opponents, posting an 8-1 win followed by identical 8-5 wins in the #2 and #3 spots.
Pitt-Greensburg continued their onslaught on the Spartans picking up victories in five of the six singles slots. #1 Pivirotto (6-1, 6-1), #2 Tyler Fox (Mt. Pleasant, PA, Southmoreland) (7-5, 6-0), #4 Izaak Fulmer-Moffat (Derry, Pa, Derry) (6-1, 6-0), #5 Luke Zeleznik (Scottdale, PA, Southmoreland) (6-4, 6-3), and Michael Meyer (Pittsburgh, PA, Keystone Oaks) (6-2, 7-6) all triumphed in straight sets.
The Bobcats travel to Altoona next Friday, April 8th for an important match at Penn State Altoona. The 2-1 Bobcats take on the 2-2 Lions in a 4:00pm contest that could have major playoff implications.
