Big Third Quarter Lifts Hilbert Over Women’s Basketball

HAMBURG, N.Y.- Jenna Cole led the Bobcats with 19 points and nine rebounds but Hilbert (7-6, 4-3 AMCC) shot 56.6% from the field in a 78-49 victory over the Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team (4-10, 3-4 AMCC) in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup Saturday afternoon.

Hilbert led 40-23 heading into the halftime intermission but put the contest away as it shot 60.0% in the second half connecting on 15-of-25 from the field, and outscored the Bobcats 19-4 in the third quarter. Pitt-Greensburg would rebound however, as it outscored the Hawks 22-19 in the fourth quarter.

Also scoring in double-figures for the Bobcats was senior guard Lyndy Baer who chipped in 13 points and dished out three assists, including knocking down 8-of-10 from the free-throw line, while three players had over 10 points for the Hawks including Kelsi Ebert who tallied a game-high 30 points.

Hilbert edged Pitt-Greensburg in the battle of the boards 37-33, but it was the Bobcats who hauled down more offensive rebounds grabbing 13 compared to eight for the Hawks.
The Bobcats cut the deficit to four, 14-10, on two of Cole's 19 points with 3:17 to go in the first quarter, but the Hawks ended the first 10 minutes on an 9-3 spurt.

Pitt-Greensburg trailed by just single digits midway through the second quarter and would get within eight on a three-pointer by Cole, but Hilbert held the Bobcats scoreless over the final 4:28 and ended the quarter on a 9-0 run to take a 40-23 advantage into halftime. 

???????Hilbert broke the game open outscoring the Bobcats 19-4 in the third quarter and would go on for the 78-49 victory.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action Wednesday when it travels to Pittsburgh to face La Roche at 6:00 p.m.
