DeVore’s First Career Goal Lifts Women’s Soccer To 1-0 Victory At Bethany

Box Score BETHANY, W.Va.- Kiara DeVore's strike in the 42nd minute lifted the Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at Bethany College on the first day of the Fuzzy Williams Memorial Classic Friday afternoon.

Devore fired a shot from 30 yards from goal that managed to get through traffic in front of the net and finds its way behind Bison goalkeeper Maria Concha Vazquez for the lone goal of the match.

Pitt-Greensburg generated the majority of the scoring opportunities on the afternoon, holding an 11-7 advantage in shot attempts, as well as a 9-3 margin in corner kick opportunities.

Bethany managed four shots on goal, but Bobcat goalkeeper Shannon Edwards stopped all four attempts that came her way to record her first shutout of the season.

Bethany came close to tying the game at one with under 10 seconds to play in the match as Riley Myers had her shot smack the post and Pitt-Greensburg would hold on for the 1-0 victory.

The Bobcats return to the field tomorrow morning when they face Wilson College at 11:30 am on the final day of the Fuzzy Williams Memorial Classic.
