Women’s Basketball Falls To Hilbert In Regular-Season Finale

HAMBURG, N.Y.- Despite posting a season-high 17 steals and forcing 24 turnovers, the Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team fell 67-55 to Hilbert, in the regular-season finale Saturday afternoon inside the Hafner Recreation Center.

Pitt-Greensburg ends the 2018-19 season with an 8-17 overall record and a 7-11 mark in the AMCC, while Hilbert stands at 20-5 and 15-3 in conference play.

Defensively, the Bobcats put together an impressive performance posting a season-high 17 steals and forced 24 turnovers, but had had trouble finding an offensive rhythm, shooting just 28.8% on the afternoon, including just 6-of-35 from three-point distance. Pitt-Greensburg converted the 24 turnovers into 21 points, compared to just 14 for the Hawks.

Nadege Durand put together a solid all-around performance to lead the Bobcats, totaling 12 points, eight rebounds, five assists, as well as five steals.

Maddy Coddington ended the season with her best game offensively, adding a season-high 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds, three of which she grabbed on the offensive glass.

Taylor Corts and Katelyn Proy each tallied a game-high 22 points to lead the Hawks.

Pitt-Greensburg got out of the gates quickly scoring the first nine points of the contest and would lead 17-9 after the opening 10 minutes of play.

Despite being held to just three points in the second period, the Bobcats would head into the halftime break trailing by just five (25-20).

Hilbert's lead expanded to 13 (39-26) midway through the third period, but a 12-5 spurt to end the quarter cut the Hilbert lead to 44-38 heading into the final stanza.

Pitt-Greensburg continued to claw its way back into the game throughout the fourth quarter and Ballow's free-throws put the Bobcats in front 50-49 with just over five minutes left in the period.

Hilbert came right back and took a 52-50 advantage on an old-fashioned three-point play on the next time down the court, but Durand's bucket once again tied the score at 52.

Following the points by Durand, Hilbert reeled off an 11-0 run to put the game away and would hold on for the 67-55 victory.
