Men’s Tennis Battles Medaille Friday Afternoon

GREENSBURG- The Pitt-Greensburg men's tennis team dropped its Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Spring Opener, falling 7-2 to Medaille College, Friday afternoon at the Greensburg Racquet Club.

Friday's match was tightly contested between the Bobcats and Mavericks as three of the matches were decided in a third set or a tiebreaker.

In doubles action, the Bobcats and Mavs split the first two doubles contests, and the #3 match was tight throughout and needed a tiebreaker to decide the match. Ultimately, it was the Mavs pairing of Jonny Pitts and Matthew Burke that came out on top 8-7.

Turner Price and Vaughn Hunkele captured the #1 doubles match, 8-6. Price picked up the Bobcats second point of the day, defeating Jacob White 6-0, 6-1 in the top singles match.

Michael Meyer and Terrance Madarish were locked in tightly contested pairing in the #2 and #4 matches. After dropping the opening set 6-4 at #2 singles, Meyer forced a winner-take all third set, but the Bobcat senior would come up just short 12-10 in a marathon third set.

For Madarish, he took the opening set 7-6, but dropped the second set, 6-4 to force a third and final set. Ultimately, it was Albert Morales that would come out on top 10-7.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action Sunday afternoon, taking to the road to face Mt. Aloysius at 1 pm.
