Women’s Soccer Posts 1-0 Shutout Against Geneva To Keep Undefeated Record Intact

GREENSBURG- Ashley Lucas netted her sixth goal of the season and Alexa Fetterman posted a shutout in her first start of the year as the duo led the Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Geneva Wednesday afternoon at Ridilla Field.

With the win, Pitt-Greensburg improves to 6-0-0 on the season, while Geneva falls to 3-3-0.

Although the Bobcats dominated the game on the offensive end, including outshooting the Golden Tornadoes 15-3 for the match and 10-2 in the first half, it looked as if the game would be scoreless at the halftime break.

Danielle Lincoln stood tall in net for Geneva posting 10 total saves, seven of which came in the first half, but with just under three minutes remaining until halftime, the Bobcats drew a foul in the offensive end which resulted in a free kick.

Lucas stepped up to take the kick and smashed a rocket into the upper portion of the net for her sixth strike of the campaign, which ultimately proved to be the game-winner.

The Bobcats totaled eight corner kicks in the match and Fetterman had two saves in her first start of the season. Fetterman now has two career starts, in which she has posted two shutouts. The junior midfielder/goalkeeper helped guide the Bobcats to a 1-0 victory at La Roche during the 2018 season.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action Saturday afternoon, opening up Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference play at Pitt-Bradford. Saturday's match is set for 3:15 pm.
