Women’s Basketball Pushes Win Streak To Four With Road Win At Alfred State

ALFRED, NY- The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg women's basketball team downed Alfred State, 81-56, on Saturday (Jan. 18) to win their fourth-straight game. The Bobcats improve to 8-7 and 6-4 in AMCC play, while Alfred State falls to 4-11 on the year and 2-7 in conference play. 

Shaquoia McCray collected a double-double for the second straight game with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Nadege Durand also earned a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds. Colleen Murphy tallied 16 points with three triples and Cat Gollihugh added 12 points to round out four Bobcat double figure scorers. 

The Bobcats never trailed in the game and led by as much as 30 points.

The lead for Pitt-Greensburg got to double digits for the first time on a fast break three pointer by Durand at 6:01 in the second quarter, which made the score 25-13. UPG ended the first half outscoring the Pioneers 14-8 to take a 15-point (39-24) lead into the locker room, the largest lead of the game to that point. 

Maddy Coddington connected on a jumper to get the Bobcat advantage up to 20 points (47-27) for the first time at 6:49 in the third quarter. A 15-2 run over five-plus minutes in the fourth quarter by UPG got the Bobcats out to their largest lead of the game (30 points). Sidney McCully made a layup to gain the largest lead with 1:51 left in the game. 

Pitt-Greensburg led by more than 15 for the final 18 and a half minutes.  

The Bobcats had 12 steals on the game and scored 20 fast break points, while Alfred State was held to one fast break point. 

This four-game win streak comes after an overtime loss at LaRoche. During the streak, Pitt-Greensburg has won the games by an average of 25.5 points, including the largest win since 2014 in their last win over Mount Aloysius on Wednesday. 

Pitt-Greensburg begins their second trip through conference opponents on Monday at 3 pm, when they stay in New York for a matchup with D'Youville inside their College Center Gym.
