Women’s Basketball Posts Dominating Road Victory At Pitt-Bradford

BRADFORD, PA- Having your best shooting and defensive performance in the same game is a winning recipe. The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg women's basketball team did just that and defeated the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, 77-33, on Saturday afternoon. Now for the second time this season, Pitt-Greensburg has won a game by more than 40 points.

The Bobcats are winners in eight of their last nine games and move to 12-8 overall and 10-5 in conference. Meanwhile, the Panthers fall to 2-18 overall and 2-11 in the AMCC with their 10th straight loss.

UPG held the UPB offense to 22.6% (12-for-53) shooting in the game, that is the lowest field goal percentage UPG has forced all season. On the other end of the court, the Bobcats shot a season best 52.8% (28-for-53). Pitt-Greensburg made 10 three pointers on the game, which is the most in a game this season.

Shaquoia McCray netted a career high 17 points and paired that with 12 rebounds to record her fifth double-double of the season. Maddie Sitler scored 13 points in 3-of-5 shooting from deep and Cat Gollihugh added 11. Nine players found the bottom of the net for the Bobcats.

Murphy dished out a career-high 7 assists to lead the team.

Pitt-Greensburg scored 14 of the first 17 points of the game to get out ahead early on. Pitt-Bradford cut it to four (19-15) early in the second quarter, but a 7-0 run by the Bobcats followed, to return their lead to double digits.

In the third quarter Pitt-Greensburg outscored Pitt-Bradford 29-3. Three points allowed is a season low for points allowed in a quarter by the Bobcats, and the second time they held a team to less than five points in a quarter. The third frame featured 9-for-14 shooting by UPG and 1-of-13 shooting by UPB. Pitt-Greensburg assisted on seven of those nine makes.

The route continued in the fourth quarter. A three pointer by LeeAnn Harris at 3:46 got the lead above 40 (70-29). The next Bobcat possession, Ashley Barker drained a three pointer to make it the largest advantage of the night for UPG, at 44 points (73-29).
