Men’s Tennis Has Season Come To An End In AMCC Championship Versus Mt. Aloysius

ERIE- The Pitt-Greensburg men's tennis team saw its season come to an end Sunday afternoon with a 5-2 loss to the #1 seed Mt. Aloysius in the AMCC Final at the Westwood Racquet Club.

Pitt-Greensburg was making its second all-time appearance (2014) in the AMCC Final.

With the win, Mt. Aloysius claims its first AMCC Title and captures the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tourney, which is slated for May 24-30 in Claremont, CA.

Pitt-Greensburg got off to a great start in Sunday's championship, as they took a 2-1 lead after doubles, picking up wins at both the #1 and #3 matches. Doubles play was a strength for the Bobcats this season as they had a lead in all but one match at the conclusion of doubles play.

The pairing of Turner Price and Vaughn Hunkele remained undefeated on the season posting an 8-6 win in the #1 spot, while Andrew Oden and Francisco Garcia, secured an 8-3 victory for the Bobcats.

In singles, Mt. Aloysius picked up wins at #2, #3, #4, and #5 to claim the championship match.

Price took the opening set in the top singles match and was up 4-3 in the second stanza, but the match went unfinished due to Aloysius securing the fifth team point. Oden and Adam Snyder each split the first two sets in the #4 match, forcing a 10-point tiebreak to decide the match, but it was Snyder that would prevail 10-4 in the tiebreak.

At the conclusion of the tournament, Hunkele and Price were named to the AMCC All-Tournament Team.
