Mienke Breaks Strikeout Record in Sweep of Wells

GREENSBURG - It took Melanie Mienke just under three seasons to rewrite the record books for a Pitt-Greensburg pitcher. She came into the game needing two strikeouts to break the career strikeout record as she sat at 230 coming into today. Not only did she break the record, she sailed past it, striking out 11 Wells batters. Mienke now sites at 241 career strikeouts.

Not to be overshadowed, the Bobcats took two games from the Express that they needed. In game one, a six-run sixth inning propelled Pitt-Greensburg to a 6-3 victory. Freshman Hunter Taylor recorded two hits as the only Bobcat to reach base twice. Taylor's two hits went for extra bases and her and Jadyn Davis each had a triple at the top of the order.

Game two saw Julia Jastrzebski earn her second win of the year as she went the distance, pitching all seven innings and not giving up a run. Julia struck out four batters and gave up six hits. Freshman Makenzie Lang took the lead for home runs on the team as she hit her second of the year. Lang drove in two on the home run. Lang also had a single in the game.

The Bobcats will complete their week with ten conference game tomorrow as the team will travel to Bradford to take on the Panthers. First pitch of game one will be at 1 PM.
