Behind Bonelli's Early Goal, Women's Soccer Holds on Against W&J

WASHINGTON, PA – A first-half goal by senior Emily Bonelli, her third goal of the season, and seven saves by fellow senior Paige John led the Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over the Presidents of Washington & Jefferson.
 
The Presidents outshot the Bobcats 20-6, but Pitt-Greensburg was able to hold on with all their might after Bonelli's goal in the 15th minute of the match. The Bobcats managed just two shots in the first half. W&J had 12 shots in the second half.   John, who is the reigning AMCC Defensive Player of the Week, has given up just three goals on 31 shots.
 
The Bobcats will take on John Carroll on Wednesday in University Heights. Kickoff will be at 7:00 PM.
