Women's Tennis Season Ends in AMCC Semis

The Pitt-Greensburg women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to Penn State Altoona in the AMCC Semi-Final match Saturday evening at the Westwood Racquet Club in Erie.

Despite the final score, the Bobcats showed resilience and competitiveness, particularly in doubles play. The No. 1 doubles team of Karen Rabe and Nancy Jiang delivered a strong performance, defeating Caitlin Blessel and Rachel Stricek of Altoona, 6-3, to secure Pitt-Greensburg's lone match win of the day.

At No. 2 doubles, Sophia Lapore and Jessica Garcia battled but ultimately fell 6-4 to Sienna Fell and Abigail Morgan. The Bobcats were forced to forfeit the No. 3 doubles match due to an incomplete lineup.

In singles action, three matches went unfinished, with Rabe, Jiang, and Lapore all competing in tight contests before play was halted. Rabe dropped the first set 6-4 and trailed 3-0 in the second against Blessel. Jiang fell 6-3 in the first set and was down 1-0 in the second versus Stricek. Lapore played a competitive first set, narrowly losing 7-5 to Lexi Colaianni before trailing in the second.

At No. 4 singles, Garcia was defeated by Sienna Fell in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2. Emily Spino fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles to Abigail Morgan, while the Bobcats were forced to forfeit the No. 6 singles match.

With the win, Penn State Altoona will advance to take on top-seeded Penn State Behrend in the AMCC Championship match tomorrow. The loss ends the fall season for the Bobcats, who will resume action in the spring with a schedule to be determined.
