Women’s Soccer Dominates Mount Aloysius in Regular Season Finale

Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer closed out the regular season in commanding fashion with a 4-0 victory over Mount Aloysius on Tuesday afternoon at Ridilla Field. The Bobcats improved to 9-7-2 overall and 6-1-1 in AMCC play, securing momentum heading into the conference tournament.

Pitt-Greensburg wasted no time asserting control, scoring three goals in the first half and adding one more late in the second. Sydney Hares opened the scoring in the 21st minute, converting a pass from Megan Hickey for her third goal of the season. Just six minutes later, Maya Wertelet doubled the lead with a composed finish assisted by Hailey Baer.

Sophomore Bella Carroto finished the scoring with a brace, scoring in the 36th and 81st minutes. Her first goal came off a well-placed assist from Abigail Ault, and she capped the scoring with a finish set up by a Dionna Santia corner kick.

The Bobcats outshot the Mounties 14-0 and held a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks. Goalkeepers Kira Howcroft and Mia Camps combined for the shutout, with neither needing to make a save thanks to a dominant defensive performance. Pitt-Greensburg's midfield and back line controlled possession throughout, allowing Mount Aloysius no shots on goal.

With the win, the Bobcats secure the right to host at least one playoff game, but the final seeding is yet to be determined by the outcome of tonight's Penn State Behrend vs Alfred State game. A Behrend win or tie will give Pitt-Greensburg the #2 seed in the tournament, where they will receive a first round bye and host the semi-final round of #3/#6 winner on November 5th. An Alfred State win would finish Pitt-Greensburg as the #3 seed, in which they would host the #6 seed on November 1st. Stay tuned for a schedule announcement following the completion of tonight's game.
