The Pitt-Greensburg men's tennis team earned a convincing 5-2 win over Thiel College on Wednesday afternoon, picking up key victories in both singles and doubles play.
Despite dropping the top doubles match, the Bobcats bounced back with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to secure the early point. Ryan Cole and Sam Vogel edged out a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles, while Jack Norris and Daniel Cipcic earned a win by default at No. 3.
In singles action, Pitt-Greensburg claimed four of the six matches. Jack Schiffhauer was awarded a win at No. 3 singles after his opponent retired, and Jack Norris battled through a three-set thriller at No. 4 singles, coming out on top 4-6, 6-4, 10-6. Sam Vogel dominated at No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep, and Daniel Cipcic picked up a default win at No. 6.
Michael Opal and Ryan Cole fell in straight sets at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, but the Bobcats' depth proved too much for the Tomcats.
This match ends the fall season for men's tennis. The season will continue in the spring, with a schedule to be announced later.
