Bobcats Push Waynesburg to Overtime in ECAC Semifinal, Fall 3-2

The Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team battled until the final whistle in Saturday's ECAC Division III Championship semifinal, but a golden goal in overtime lifted Waynesburg to a 3-2 victory at John F. Wiley Stadium.

Waynesburg opened the scoring in the sixth minute, but the Bobcats responded quickly when Megan Hickey converted off an assist from Shaylene Ceruti just 90 seconds later. After a tense second half, Bella Carroto gave Pitt-Greensburg a 2-1 lead in the 74th minute with a clutch strike. The Yellow Jackets answered two minutes later to force overtime, where Amanda Pepe scored the game-winner in the 97th minute.

Pitt-Greensburg finished with 10 shots (7 on goal) and earned five corner kicks, while goalkeeper Kira Howcroft recorded five saves in the hard-fought contest. Hickey and Carroto each tallied goals for UPG, and Ceruti added an assist.

The Bobcats conclude their season at 9-9-3 overall, capping off a strong campaign that included an AMCC semifinal appearance and an ECAC postseason berth.
