Softball Earns AMCC Sweep

OLEAN, N.Y. - The Pitt-Greensburg softball team earned its first AMCC sweep, taking two on a Sunday Matinee against Alfred State. The Bobcats won game one 2-1 and then had a ten-run outburst, defeating the Pioneers in game two 10-6.

Game One:
The first game of the day was a pitcher's duel. The Pioneers scored a run in the bottom of the first inning but didn't score again. The Bobcats scored runs in the fifth and sixth innings to win the game.

The Bobcats used witty base running to score in the fifth inning as they pulled a double steal with Shelby Cloak taking second base and Jadyn Davis breaking home for the tying run. Davis had two stolen bases in the game.

The sixth inning began with a Makenzie Lang single, followed by Jessica Dunn plating Madyson Hart as she pinch ran for Lang. Dunn's sixth-inning double was the lone extra-base hit for the Bobcats in Game One.

Melanie Mienke earned the win, as she gave up just one earned run and struck out five batters over seven innings. Mienke gave up just four hits and just one batter.

Game Two

An offensive battle erupted in the latter half of the doubleheader. Both teams combined 16 runs and 23 hits, and seven errors were committed.

Pitt-Greensburg had a 1-0 lead going into the fourth inning before a seven-run outburst that included five singles (two by Bea Cook), a double by Sadie Kelly, and a Jessica Dunn home run, her first of the year, to give the Bobcats an 8- 0 lead. Autumn Powell also reached base twice in the inning, taking a walk and a single.
Makenzie Lang and Hunter Taylor both had three hits in the game, while Shelby Cloak and Bea Cook each had two hits. Cloak had two doubles for her hits. Pitt-Greensburg also had four stolen bases in the game.
