Pitt‑Greensburg showed grit and late-game firepower, but an early deficit proved too steep to climb as the Bobcats fell 63–53 to Pitt‑Bradford on Saturday afternoon inside Chambers Hall.
The afternoon opened with a rare sequence: a technical foul assessed before the ball even tipped. Although the Bobcats couldn't convert at the line, they struck first from the field when Anna Durbin finished a layup just three seconds into the action, assisted by Abby Henise. Moments later, Ca'Mari Walden powered through the lane twice in under 40 seconds, helping UPG build a 6–2 lead—their largest of the day.
From there, momentum shifted sharply. Pitt‑Bradford's pressure created a string of empty trips for the Bobcats, who struggled to find clean looks in the half‑court. The visitors responded with a 13–3 run fueled by transition scoring, highlighted by a Raquel Sewell three at the 4:46 mark and three late baskets from Amber Murak. The Bobcats went into the second quarter trailing 15–9.
The second period brought more frustration for Pitt‑Greensburg. Repeated turnovers prevented the Bobcats from gaining traction, even as Walden worked her way to the free‑throw line and Jocelyn Bielak grabbed key rebounds to slow Pitt‑Bradford's interior attack. Bielak's three-pointer with 1:49 remaining offered a much‑needed spark, but the Panthers continued to capitalize on second‑chance opportunities and carried a 28–17 lead into halftime.
The third quarter began with more of the same, as Pitt‑Bradford extended its advantage to 36–17 less than four minutes in. But Bielak refused to let the game slip further. The senior buried a trio of threes in the period—including a deep one from the wing at the 4:06 mark that brought the crowd to life. Musto followed suit with two threes of her own, chipping the margin down to single digits. Still, Pitt‑Bradford entered the fourth up 47–32.
From that point forward, the Bobcats played their best basketball of the afternoon.
Bielak opened the final quarter by drilling her fourth three of the game, and Musto answered a few minutes later with another from the right wing, suddenly pulling UPG within 52–46 with just over three minutes to play. It was the closest the Bobcats had been since the opening minutes.
Pitt‑Greensburg continued to claw its way back as Bielak scored in the paint at the 1:30 mark to make it an eight‑point game. But each time the Bobcats truly threatened, Pitt‑Bradford had an answer. Murak—who poured in a game‑high 24 points—connected on back‑to‑back threes in the final minutes to restore a double‑digit lead. Bielak added one final layup with five seconds remaining, but the Panthers closed things out at the free‑throw line to secure the victory.
Bielak led Pitt‑Greensburg with 20 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in one of her most complete performances of the season. Musto finished with 17 points and four made threes, while Walden added 12 points, eight rebounds, and three steals in a strong two‑way effort. Despite the loss, the Bobcats outscored Bradford 21–16 in the fourth quarter and forced 17 turnovers on the afternoon.
