Pitt-Greensburg's bats stayed hot all afternoon as the Bobcats swept a doubleheader from Franciscan on Wednesday, taking Game One 11-3 before rolling to a 14-1 victory in Game Two.
Game One: Pitt-Greensburg 11, Franciscan 3
Pitt-Greensburg broke things open early and never looked back, using a pair of big innings to secure the run-rule victory.
After a scoreless first, the Bobcats erupted in the second inning. Falynn Reinard and Autumn Powell set the table, and Jadyn Davis delivered the breakthrough with a three-run home run to put Pitt-Greensburg ahead 3-0. The lineup continued to string together quality at-bats, with RBI hits from Hunter Taylor and Kenzie Lang pushing the lead to 6-0 by the end of the inning.
The offense stayed relentless in the third. With two outs, Cassidy Kunkel ignited another rally with a single and stolen base. Shelby Cloak followed with an RBI knock, and after consecutive singles loaded the bases, Lang cleared them with a three-run double. Powell added another RBI later in the inning, extending the advantage to 11-0.
Franciscan chipped away with a run in the third and two more in the fourth, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
Paige Phillips earned the win, throwing 3 innings, before being relieved by Julia Jastrzebski who closed out the contest.
Offensively, the Bobcats tallied 15 hits. Lang led the way with five RBIs, while Davis added a three-run homer. Cloak, Taylor, and Reinard each recorded multi-hit performances in the win.
Game Two: Pitt-Greensburg 14, Franciscan 1
The Bobcats carried their momentum into Game Two, again using steady offense early before breaking the game open late.
Pitt-Greensburg struck first in the second inning. After loading the bases with no outs, Kayla Saeli drove in the first run on a fielder's choice, and Julia Jastrzebski followed with an RBI walk. Ryleigh Kasten capped the inning with an RBI single to give the Bobcats a 3-0 lead.
Franciscan answered with an unearned run in the bottom half, but Pitt-Greensburg quickly regained control. In the fourth, Shelby Cloak doubled and stole third before Kasten brought her home with an RBI double to make it 4-1.
The decisive blow came in the fifth. With runners on, Kasten delivered another RBI double, and Mia Dalessandro followed with a three-run double to stretch the lead to 8-1.
Pitt-Greensburg put the game completely out of reach in the seventh with a six-run outburst. The inning featured a series of timely hits and patient at-bats, including RBI singles from Keira Rozanski and Dalessandro, along with bases-loaded walks from Brenna Altman and Whitney McCoskey. A Franciscan error allowed two more runs to score as the Bobcats pushed the margin to 14-1.
Nicole Palmer was dominant in the circle, tossing a complete game while allowing just one unearned run and striking out nine to earn the win.
The Bobcats finished with 16 hits in Game Two. Kasten led the charge with a four-hit performance and three RBIs, while Dalessandro drove in four runs. Multiple players contributed multi-hit efforts as Pitt-Greensburg's lineup produced from top to bottom.
The Bobcats return home Saturday as they host Alfred State for Senior Day. First pitch is scheduled for 10AM.
