Pitt-Greensburg opened the doubleheader with a strong all-around performance, using timely hitting and a dominant outing in the circle to defeat La Roche, 10-2.
The Bobcats struck first in the bottom of the opening inning. Taking advantage of an early error, Pitt-Greensburg loaded the bases before Falynn Reinard worked a walk to bring home the game's first run.
Autumn Powell set the tone from there, keeping La Roche off balance through the first three innings while piling up strikeouts. The Redhawks broke through in the fourth, stringing together three hits, including a two-run single by Finley Hohn to take a brief 2-1 lead.
The Bobcats answered immediately in the bottom half of the inning with their biggest swing of the game. After loading the bases, Shelby Cloak delivered a sacrifice fly to tie the score before Jessica Dunn launched a three-run home run to center field, putting Pitt-Greensburg back in front for good at 5-2.
Pitt-Greensburg continued to capitalize on opportunities in the fifth, using defensive miscues to plate two more runs and extend the lead. The Bobcats then closed the game in the sixth, as Jadyn Davis drove in a run and Cloak added a two-run single to enforce the run-rule victory.
Offensively, Pitt-Greensburg totaled 13 hits, led by Dunn's three RBI and home run, while Hunter Taylor and Powell each recorded three hits. Cloak drove in four runs to pace the lineup. In the circle, Powell earned the complete-game victory, allowing just two runs on four hits while striking out seven.
Game 2: Pitt-Greensburg 10, La Roche 2
The Bobcats carried their momentum into game two, completing the doubleheader sweep with another 10-2 victory behind a balanced offensive attack and early run production.
Pitt-Greensburg jumped out quickly in the first inning. Shelby Cloak led off with a single and later scored, while Hunter Taylor and Kenzie Lang each delivered RBI hits. A wild pitch added another run as the Bobcats took a 3-0 lead after one.
The offense erupted again in the third inning, breaking the game open. Pitt-Greensburg tallied five runs on six hits in the frame, highlighted by RBI singles from Mckenzie Lamb, Brenna Altman, and Jadyn Davis. Jessica Dunn capped the inning with a two-run single, extending the lead to 8-0.
In the fourth, the Bobcats added another run as Whitney McCoskey came around to score following a double and a pair of wild pitches, pushing the advantage to 9-0.
La Roche got on the board in the fifth, capitalizing on a pair of hits and an error to score two runs, but the Bobcats quickly answered. In the sixth, Sadie Kelly doubled to start the inning before Ryleigh Kasten delivered an RBI single to seal the 10-2 win.
Pitt-Greensburg finished with 15 hits in the nightcap, with multiple players contributing throughout the lineup. Sadie Kelly led the way with three hits, while Cloak and Taylor each added two. Dunn drove in two runs, and several others chipped in RBIs in a complete offensive performance.
In the circle, Powell picked up her second win of the day, tossing four scoreless innings, while Nicole Palmer closed out the game.
Pitt-Greensburg's sweep showcased both offensive depth and strong pitching, as the Bobcats combined for 20 runs on 28 hits across the two games while allowing just four runs to La Roche.
