Doug Smeltzer enters his sixth year as head coach of the Pitt-Greensburg men’s and women’s tennis teams in 2023.
He has led the women's tennis team to three-straight AMCC Regular Season Titles and consecutive AMCC Tournament Titles. The Bobcat women's tennis team has made back-to-back NCAA Tournament Appearances in 2022 and 2023.
Smeltzer has helped mentor the class of 2024 to record breaking accomplishments in singles, doubles and combined play.He was named AMCC Coach of the Year twice.
As leader of the Bobcat men's team, he has led the program to three-straight AMCC Tournaments. He was a huge part in Turner Price becoming one of the most decorated athletes in school history in his three seasons as a Bobcat.
During his three seasons playing for the Bobcats, Smeltzer was a two-time All-Conference selection and was named Academic All-AMCC as a senior. Smeltzer received Scholar Athletic distinction as both a junior and senior and was also selected to the AMCC Sportsmanship Team twice during his playing career.
In his time at Pitt-Greensburg, Smeltzer was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and served as a tutor for both Financial and Managerial Accounting.
In addition to serving as the tennis coach at Pitt-Greensburg, Smeltzer works full-time at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.
