Women's Volleyball earns come from behind win at Mt. Aloysius
Cresson, PA- The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg’s women’s volleyball team came back from a two set to nothing deficit to defeat Mt. Aloysius College 3-2 (15-25, 11-25, 25-20, 27-25, 15-11) Tuesday evening.
“The coaching staff and I are very proud of the way the girls played tonight.” said head coach Leroy Simms. “Tonight was the biggest comeback I’ve been a part of in my 10 seasons as head coach.”
Pitt-Greensburg found themselves in a 2-0 hole after dropping the first two sets of the match 15-25 and 11-25. The Bobcats never gave up and battled back to win the next three sets in a row including a 27-25 thrilling victory in the fourth set.
Jaime Barkman (Aliquippa, PA, Hopewell) led the offensive attack with 19 kills while
Erika Spina (Birdsoro, PA, Danile Boone) dished out a career high 43 assists.
Samantha Meyers (Elizabeth, PA, Elizabeth Forward) earned 25 digs while Barkman chipped in with two blocks to lead a strong defensive effort.
The Bobcats will be back in action when they travel to Pitt-Bradford on Saturday, October 20
th. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
