Volleyball goes 0-4 at Carnegie Mellon Invitational

Pittsburgh, PA- The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg’s volleyball team went 0-4 this weekend at the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational.  After the four losses Pitt-Greensburg record falls to 0-14 on the season.

The Bobcats opened the four game tournament with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-18, 25-19) defeat to the hands of Muskingum University.  Pitt-Greensburg was led by Jaime Barkman who earned five kills while Samantha Meyers tallied 11 assists.  Briana Weakland tied a career high set earlier this season with 20 digs.

Pitt-Greensburg dropped the second match of the first day to the College of Wooster 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-14).  Nika Simonson totaled five kills and 17 digs while Meyers handed out 20 assists and collected 11 digs.

Day two was just as tough for UPG as day one was as the Bobcats fell to host Carnegie Mellon University 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-7).  Meyers earned 20 more assists while Barkman and Erika Spina had eight and seven kills respectively.

Pitt-Greensburg finished up the four game tournament with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-10, 25-11) loss to John Carroll University.

Pitt-Greensburg returns home to host Chatham University on Tuesday, September 18th at 7:00 PM
