Erie, PA:  Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball suffered a 76-45 setback Saturday afternoon on the road against Penn State Behrend.

The Bobcats jumped out to an early lead thanks to buckets from junior Brock Witkowski (Marble, PA, Keystone) and freshman Mike Connelly (Butler, PA, St. Joesephs).  Behrend would catch up and tie the game at the mid-way point in the first half.  Behrend's Mike Knoll knocked down a free throw at the 9:04 mark of the first half to put Behrend up for good.  UPG went into half time trailing Behrend 30-17.

Unfortunately for the Bobcats, the second half would not be any easier.  While the Bobcats shot 42% in the second half and played much better offensively, they struggled to find a way to slow the Behrend offense.  Behrend shot 64% (16-26) from the floor in the second half and used a couple early runs to put the game out of reach.

Pitt-Greensburg struggled from the floor, shooting 18-50 (36%) for the game, including just 3-17 from three point range.  The Bobcats did have the edge in rebounds over Behrend, 29-28.

Leading Pitt-Greensburg was the freshman Connelly, who had a team high 12 points on 5 of 8 shooting.  Witkowski also added 10 points and 5 assists in 32 minutes of work.

UPG will be back on the floor Wednesday night (Jan 23) when they travel to Steubenville, Ohio to take on Franciscan University.  The Bobcats won the previous matchup over the Barons, 85-75 in Greensburg back on December 5th.  Game time for Wednesday is set for 8pm.
