Second half struggles prove costly for Bobcats against Franciscan

STEUBENVILLE, OH:  Looking to build off of last Saturday's win in the conference opener, the Pitt-Greensburg men's soccer team gave up 4 unanswered goals Tuesday afternoon as they fell to Franciscan University, 4-1. 

Pitt-Greensburg's Max Paolone got the Bobcats on the board first with his second goal of the season, but the lead was given up less than 20 seconds later and the teams went in to the half tied at 1-1.  Each team recorded 10 shots in the first frame and Brandon Galley s six, first-half saves kept the Bobcats within striking distance. 

In the 69th minute, Franciscan's Joseph Duran scored on a header to give the Barons their first lead of the game at 2-1. Just over a minute later, the Barons extended their lead to 3-1 with a goal from John Imbrimbo.  The Bobcats had chances throughout the second half but were unable to take advantage of opportunities.  Then in the 87th minute the Barons added a 4th goal to seal the victory, a 4-1 final score.

On the day, shots were pretty much even, with the Barons holding a 20-19 edge as well as a 10-6 advantage in corner kicks.  Galley ended up the day with 10 saves in goal for UPG.

Pitt-Greensburg (2-9, 1-1 AMCC) will be off until Saturday (Oct 5) when they travel to Hamburg, NY to take on Hilbert College in an AMCC matchup.  Game time in Hamburg is scheduled for 1pm.
