Men's Soccer drops regular season finale to La Roche, 4-1

GREENSBURG, Pa: The 2013 men's soccer season came to a disappointing close Tuesday evening with a 4-1 loss to conference foe La Roche College.
Prior to the game, the Bobcats recognized their lone senior, team captain
Brady Paterson (Salix, PA, Forest Hills) Paterson had been a three year player for the Bobcats, and Tuesday evening marked his final game in the blue and gold.
The Redhawks (10-8, 7-2 AMCC) got the scoring started in the 17
th minute when Phillip Ross scored on a one timer inside the box on a nice pass from Chad Trozzi. LRC fired off 16 shots in the first half, but still only led 1-0 at the break.
Pitt-Greensburg took advantage of an early scoring opportunity just over a minute into the second half. UPG's
Sean Baxendell (Venetia, PA , Peters Township) played a through ball into the box to a breaking
Matt Papinchak (South Park, PA, South Park) who finished it into the back of the net, tying the score 1-1.
La Roche regained the lead for good in the 57
th minute when Ryan Luffey headed in a cross from Bryan Weimerskirch, giving the Redhawks a 2-1 lead.
Weimerskirch would add two goals of his own in the 61
st and 79
th minutes to close out the scoring, giving the Redhawks a 4-1 victory.
Pitt-Greensburg (3-16, 2-7 AMCC) misses out on the AMCC playoffs after finishing as the #6 seed a season ago. Meanwhile the Redhawks earn the #3 seed in the AMCC tournament and will host #6 Hilbert in the first round this Saturday.
