GREENSBURG, Pa:  The 2013 men's soccer season came to a disappointing close Tuesday evening with a 4-1 loss to conference foe La Roche College.

Prior to the game, the Bobcats recognized their lone senior, team captain Brady Paterson (Salix, PA, Forest Hills)   Paterson had been a three year player for the Bobcats, and Tuesday evening marked his final game in the blue and gold.

The Redhawks (10-8, 7-2 AMCC) got the scoring started in the 17th minute when Phillip Ross scored on a one timer inside the box on a nice pass from Chad Trozzi.  LRC fired off 16 shots in the first half, but still only led 1-0 at the break.

Pitt-Greensburg took advantage of an early scoring opportunity just over a minute into the second half.  UPG's Sean Baxendell (Venetia, PA , Peters Township) played a through ball into the box to a breaking Matt Papinchak (South Park, PA, South Park) who finished it into the back of the net, tying the score 1-1.

La Roche regained the lead for good in the 57th minute when Ryan Luffey headed in a cross from Bryan Weimerskirch, giving the Redhawks a 2-1 lead.

Weimerskirch would add two goals of his own in the 61st and 79th minutes to close out the scoring, giving the Redhawks a 4-1 victory.

Pitt-Greensburg (3-16, 2-7 AMCC) misses out on the AMCC playoffs after finishing as the #6 seed a season ago.  Meanwhile the Redhawks earn the #3 seed in the AMCC tournament and will host #6 Hilbert in the first round this Saturday.
