Bobcats' late rally comes up short against Hilbert

HAMBURG, NY: Pitt-Greensburg men's soccer came up on the losing end Saturday afternoon in an AMCC matchup against Hilbert College, 3-2.
Down 3-1 late in the contest, UPG's Jake Lauderbaugh headed in a cross from Jeremy Niemiec to bring the Bobcats within a goal at 3-2 with just over 3 minutes remaining. Despite the effort, the Bobcats couldn't find an equalizing goal in the final minutes, falling to 1-2 in AMCC play.
After trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Bobcats evened the score when Mike Dawdy scored his second goal of the season, just 3 minutes into the second half. The Hawks took the lead for good in the 56
th minute when a header was saved by keeper Brandon Galley but the rebound was put back in, giving the Hawks a 2-1 lead.
Hilbert tacked on an insurance goal in the 70
th minute to extend their lead to 3-1 and ultimately putting the game out of reach.
On the day, the Hawks outshot the Bobcats 24-15 and held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
UPG (2-10, 1-2 AMCC) will start the first of four straight home games this Wednesday when they host AMCC rival Penn State Altoona at 2pm at Ridilla Field.
