GREENSBURG, PA:  The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team earned a tough fought split with the visiting Baldwin-Wallace, winning game one, 5-4 and falling in game two, 11-4.  After Sunday’s results Pitt-Greensburg moves to 13-21 on the season as Baldwin-Wallace checks in at 24-11.

Game 1 would open with two runs tallied by the Yellow Jackets in the top of the first inning.  The Bobcats would get on the board in the bottom of the second when an error by the Baldwin-Wallace second baseman on a ball hit by Dave Coradi (Cranberry, PA, Seneca Valley) would score Steven Anderson (Greensburg, PA, Hempfield) and Mike Pearson (Beaver Falls, PA, Blackhawk).  Two batters later a Matt Moyer (Greensburg, PA, Hempfield) single would bring Anthony Maroadi (North Huntingdon, PA, Norwin) across home, giving Pitt-Greensburg the lead at 3-2.

Baldwin Wallace added one run in the third and fourth innings to retake the advantage 4-3.  But, Pitt-Greensburg would answer in the bottom of the fourth with a Coradi RBI single that would score Pearson, tying things up at 4-4.

The Bobcats would have to wait until the sixth inning for the go-ahead score, after aMatt Germanoski (Ellwood City, PA, Ellwood City) double scored Maroadi  to make the score 5-4.

After recording the first out, Pearson made way for Coradi on the mound.  With a Yellow Jacket on third and clinging to a one run lead, the Bobcats would record the second out at home-plate.  Coradi would then collect the final out with a ground out to first earning the save and securing the 5-4 Bobcat victory.

Pearson (3-2) would be credited with the win after pitching 6.1 innings and allowing four runs, three earned on six hits.  Coradi would pick up the save.

Maroadi finished the game going 2-3 with two runs scored.  Anderson would tally a run to bring his career total to 117 and move him into a tie with UPG’s all-time leader Matt Stanziano.

Baldwin Wallace would take control of a weather-shortened, five inning Game 2 with seven runs scored in the first three innings before the Bobcats would reply.  The third inning would see Pitt-Greensburg post four runs to cut the deficit to 7-4.  The fourth and final Bobcat run would come when Anderson crossed the dish for his record-setting 118th run scored, giving him sole possession of the school’s all-time record.

Unfortunately for the Bobcats, Anderson’s run would cap the scoring at four for the home team as Baldwin Wallace added four runs in the fourth inning to take Game 2, 11-4.

Matt Kloos (Seven Fields, PA, Seneca Valley) was charged with the loss after lasting two innings and allowing seven hits and five runs.  Justin Miller (Pittsburgh, PA, Keystone Oaks) would enter for three innings of relief work and was charged with surrendering five earned runs on six hits.

Pitt-Greensburg will travel to Bethany College for a non-confernce double header at 2:00pm on Tuesday, April 30th.
