Volleyball drops season openers to Allegheny, Franciscan

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LATROBE, Pa:  The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg women's volleyball team dropped a pair of contests to Allegheny College and Franciscan University in the opening round of the Bearcat Challenge at St. Vincent College.  

In game one, the Bobcats fell to Allegheny 3-0 (15-25, 13-25, 19-25).  Freshman Lauren Tassone led the way with 7 kills and 7 digs while Senior Jaime Barkman contributed 4 kills, 7 digs and 2 service aces.  Rounding out the scoring in game one was freshman Paige Misawic who added 15 assists.  

In game two, the Bobcats fell to conference foe Franciscan University by score of 3-0 (16-25, 21-25, 16-25).  For the Bobcats, senior Katie Wyland had a team high 10 digs, while classmate Jaime Barkman chipped in 5 kills to go along with 3 service aces.  Sophomore Rebecca Muha also added 5 kills to pace the Bobcat offense.  

The Lady Bobcats will be back in action Saturday at St. Vincent College for day 2 of the Bearcat Challenge.  Pitt-Greensburg will take on former AMCC foe Frostburg State at 11am and  then wrap up weekend play against Muskingum College at 3pm.
