Presidents' defense stymies Bobcats, 3-0

GREENSBURG, PA: The Pitt-Greensburg men's soccer team lost in their second home match of the season 3-0 Tuesday afternoon at Ridilla Field against Washington and Jefferson College.
 
Washington & Jefferson (2-1) took an early lead after Paul Hann scored just 24 seconds into the game. Minutes later, Adam Suter found the back of the net for the Presidents at the 2:45 mark, his first of two goals on the day.
 
After W&J jumped out to the early 2-0 lead, the remainder of the match was a defensive battle.  UPG held their ground defensively, until surrendering a late tally by Suter in the 87th minute.
 
The Bobcats were kept off the board by W&J's ferocious defense. Pitt-Greensburg freshman Sean Baxendell (Venetia, PA , Peters Township) recorded two shots on goal, while junior Max Paolone (Pittsburgh, PA, Allderdice) also recorded a shot on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Brandon Galley (Mt. Pleasant, PA, Southmoreland) recorded 8 saves on 11 shots.
 
UPG (0-5) will continue its string of games against Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) opponents on Saturday, September 14th when they travel to Bethany College. Game time is set for 4pm. 
 
The next home contest will be Wednesday, September 18th at 4:00 PM against rival St. Vincent College.
