Volleyball stumbles at Frostburg tri match

FROSTBURG, Md:  The Lady Bobcats Volleyball team travelled to Frostburg, MD on Saturday to compete in a tri match against Frostburg State University and Cairn University. 

Pitt-Greensburg lost to Cairn in the first game, 3-0 (20-25, 10-25, 9-25).  The Bobcats were led by senior captain Jaime Barkman (Aliquippa, PA, Hopewell) who registered 5 kills and 2 blocks.  Freshman Alison Hodges (Oakmont, PA, Riverview) had 11 assists while classmate Emily Zelenka (Scottdale, PA, Southmoreland) chipped in 7 digs.

In the nightcap, UPG squared off against former AMCC foe Frostburg State for the second time this season.  The two teams met earlier in the season at the Bearcat Challenge, with Frostburg winning in a 5th and deciding game.  The Bobcats of Frostburg were on the winning end again this time around, earning a victory 3-0 (12-25, 22-25, 19-25). 

Barkman continued to pace the Bobcats, adding 9 kills and 8 digs.  Zelenka had 3 kills and 2 aces to go along with 10 digs while classmate Breanna Mehall (Hopwood, PA, Laurel Highlands) had a team high 12 digs.

Pitt-Greensburg (1-9) will be off until September 25th when they host Point Park in a non-conference matchup at 7pm in Chambers Hall
