GREENSBURG, Pa:  It took a gutty performance in overtime on a cold, rainy Saturday afternoon at home for the Bobcats to finally get in the win column.  Jeremy Niemiec's goal on a penalty kick in overtime gave the Bobcats a 1-0 victory over Thiel College.

Both teams began pre-game warm ups in an absolute downpour and the chances of the game actually being played were in serious question.  The rain fell consistently throughout the game but both teams fought through sloppy field conditions and battled to a scoreless tie through the first 90 minutes.

In the overtime period, Brady Paterson was taken down in the box on a scoring chance and thus setting up the drama for a potential penalty kick golden goal.  Niemiec beat the keeper easily to the bottom left corner, sending the Bobcats into celebration on the field, erasing any thoughts of the weather.

Pitt-Greensburg outshot Thiel, 14-7 on the day and also held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. Alex Guie made 4 saves in goal for the Bobcats, preserving the shutout win.

UPG (1-7) will travel Monday to Geneva College for a night game at 7pm, their final non-conference contest before they open up AMCC play next Saturday at home against D'Youville College.
