Carroll scores game winner in OT victory over Mt. Aloysius


GREENSBURG, Pa:  Junior Courtney Carroll sent a left footed shot from outside the box that sailed overtop the goalkeeper and into the back over the net to give Pitt-Greensburg a 3-2 overtime victory over Mt. Aloysius College Wednesday afternoon.

Carroll scored all three goals for Pitt-Greensburg, who improve to 5-6-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the AMCC.  Mt. Aloysius falls to 7-5 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

The Bobcats would strike first after a foul in the box against Mt. Aloysius.  Carroll would make good on the penalty kick, giving UPG a 1-0 in the 31st minute.

The Mounties got even just over five minutes later when they got a fortunate bounce off of a long shot that bounced over the head of UPG keeper Shannon Edwards, tying the game at 1-1.

Just minutes later, the Mounties put another long shot on goal that was deflected in past Edwards to give MTA a 2-1 lead, which they held into halftime.

In the 75th minute, a second foul in the box against Mt. Aloysius led to another successful penalty kick goal from Carroll, knotting the game at 2-2.

Carroll's third goal of the game was the difference maker, keeping the Bobcats in the thick of the playoff race in the AMCC.

Pitt-Greensburg held the edge in shots 15-8 on the afternoon.  Edwards had to make just two saves on the day in the win.

Pitt-Greensburg will look to keep it rolling this Saturday then they host Hilbert College in an important AMCC matchup.  Game time for Saturday is set for 1pm.
