Bobcats overpower John Jay College at Messiah Tournament

Box Score GRANTHAM, PA:  The Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team delivered a dominating performance on Saturday afternoon, defeating John Jay College 77-41 in the consolation game of the Messiah-Hampton Inn Tip-Off Classic. The Bobcats even their record on the season at 2-2, while the Bloodhounds fall to 0-3.

Senior Kayla Dames would set the tone for UPG early, scoring the first 6 points of the contest. A jumper from Brittany Butterworth would give the Bobcats a 15-4 lead less than six minutes into the game. Dames would score 11 of her 13 points in the first half to help Pitt-Greensburg gain a 39-18 advantage going into the locker room.

The second half was more of the same for the Bobcats. They would outscore John Jay 38-23 in the period, as Emily Nelson took over. Nelson dropped 16 of her 19 points in the second half, which included five three-pointers.

Senior Morgan Biddle posted her first double-double of the season, scoring 13 points and adding 11 boards. Butterworth and Emily Merryman would both tally 8 points for Pitt-Greensburg.

The Bobcats assisted on 25 of their 28 made field goals on the day. Butterworth and Lindsey McKamish had 6 assists each and Nelson notched 5.

Pitt-Greensburg is back in action on Tuesday, when they travel to Pittsburgh to face Chatham University. Tip-off is set for 7pm.
