WAYNESBURG, Pa: Pitt-Greensburg had its three game winning streak snapped on the road Monday night, falling to Waynesburg 83-63.
The Bobcats drop to 3-5 overall, while the Yellow Jackets improve to the same 3-5 mark.
It was a back and forth affair, and despite the Bobcats struggles shooting, especially from three point range, they trailed by just four points at halftime.
UPG managed to grab a 56-55 lead with just 8:47 remaining in the game, before the Yellow Jackets went on a tear, finishing the game on a 28-7 run to earn a convincing 20 point victory.
UPG shot 23 of 59 (39%) from the floor, including an uncharacteristic 2 of 22 (9%) from three point range.
Jerell Figueroa paced the Bobcats with a team high 20 points on the night, while teammate Marcus Thomas posted his third double-double of the season, netting 17 points while grabbing 10 rebounds.
Pitt-Greensburg will the 2014 portion their schedule this weekend when they travel to Holland, MI to participate in the Russ Devette/Holland Sentinel Tournament hosted by Hope College. UPG will face Hope on Friday (Dec 19
th) at 8pm, followed by a tilt against Olivet College on Saturday at 1pm.
