Box Score
GREENSBURG, PA:  The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team captured their third straight victory on Wednesday, blanking Allegheny College 6-0 in a non-conference contest. The Bobcats add a victory over the Gators after being defeated by Allegheny 9-5 on their season opening trip to Fayetteville, NC. Pitt-Greensburg improves their record to 10-8 (3-1 AMCC), while Allegheny drops to 13-6 on the season.

Pitt-Greensburg wasted little time getting on the board in the bottom of the first. John Buerkle (Jacksonville, FL, Fletcher) and Anthony Bozzuto (Greensburg, PA, Hempfield) would both single to lead off the inning. The Bobcats would then execute a successful double steal, with Buerkle taking third and Bozzuto second, and Buerkle would come in to score when the throw got past the third baseman and bounced into left field to put UPG up 1-0.

The Bobcats would score twice in the bottom of the third. Buerkle led off again with a single and then swiped second base. With two outs, Chad Jacob (Bridgeville, PA, Chartiers Valley) hit a mammoth shot that easily cleared the fence in deep centerfield to give Pitt-Greensburg the 3-0 lead.

Jacob would strike again in the bottom of the fifth. After Bozzuto singled and Dylin Brooks (Ardara, PA, Norwin) walked, Jacob would double down the left field line to drive in two more runs. Matt Germanoski (Ellwood City, PA, Ellwood City) followed up with a double of his own, scoring Jacob and putting the Bobcats up 6-0.

Six runs would be plenty enough for the Pitt-Greensburg pitching staff, who threw their second consecutive shutout. Brennan Rahl (Greensburg, PA, Hempfield) got the start on the bump and shut down the Gator offense, allowing only four hits and striking out three in five innings. Cory Deighan (Bethel Park, PA, Seton-La Salle) tossed three innings of one-hit baseball in relief and Nick Anderson (Brockway, PA, Brockway) threw a scoreless ninth inning.

Buerkle and Jacob did their part at the plate to lead the UPG offense. Buerkle had three hits and crossed the plate twice, while Jacob erupted for four RBIs and also came home twice. Bozzuto would add a multi-hit game as well for the Bobcats.

Pitt-Greensburg is back on the diamond on Thursday, as they host Point Park in a non-conference nine inning game at Bobcat Park. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
