WASHINGTON, Pa: The Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team dropped their first game of the Hyatt Place Pittsburgh South Tournament to host Washington and Jefferson Friday evening, 73-62.
Pitt-Greensburg drops to 0-2 on the young season while the Presidents improve to 1-1.
It was a tightly contested first half, with the two teams going back in forth in the first 15 minutes before W&J used a small run late in the first half to grab a 33-29 lead at the break.
The Presidents extended their lead in the second half to as many as 15 points to pull away late in the fourth quarter for the victory.
The Bobcats were led by senior
Emily Nelson (New Stanton, PA, Hempfield) who dropped 21 points on 8 of 23 shooting. Sophomore
Sylvia Stuart (Harrisburg, PA, Central Dauphin East)added 13 points and 6 rebounds on the night while junior
Lindsey D'Agostino (Harrisburg, PA, Central Dauphin East) chipped in 10 points to go along with 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.
The Bobcats return to the court tomorrow for day two of the Hyatt Place Pittsburgh South Tournament, where they will take on Wittenberg University at 1pm.
