Volleyball opens 2015 with two hard fought losses

Box Score 2 MORRISVILLE, NY: The Pitt-Greensburg volleyball team dropped their first two matches of the season against St. John Fisher and Bard College on Saturday at the Morrisville State Tournament.
In the early match, Pitt-Greensburg squared off against St. John Fisher in a non-conference contest. The Bobcats fell behind early losing the first set 25-14, but quickly evened things up winning the second set 25-16. It was all St. John Fisher after that winning the third set 25-11 and the fourth and final set 25-17. Junior Julie Barron led the Bobcats with 6 kills, while Paige Misawic led the team with 12 assists. Junior Renee Ault had a team high 15 digs for Pitt-Greensburg.
The Bobcat's second game of the day was a very close match against Bard College. Bard College won the first set 25-23 and the third set 25-19, while the Bobcats won the second set 25-22 and the fourth set 25-14. The decisive fifth set went down to the wire with Bard College pulling out the victory 17-15. Paige Misawic had a great game leading the team with 27 digs and 16 assists. Renee Ault registered 20 digs while freshman Marla Shaffer tallied 11 assists to help out the Bobcat's offense. Junior Lauren Tassone led the offensive attack by leading the team in kills with 9.
Pitt-Greensburg will move on to day two at the Morrisville State Tournament on Sunday when they match up against Keystone College at 11am followed by a showdown with the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts at 3pm.
