Volleyball drops two matches at Morrisville State tournament

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MORRISVILLE, NY:  The Pitt-Greensburg volleyball team dropped two more matches today at the Morrisville State Tournament against Keystone College and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. 

In the early match, Pitt-Greensburg fell in four sets against Keystone College.  The Bobcats jumped out to an early lead winning the first set 25-21. Unfortunately, it was all Keystone College after that, winning the next three consecutive sets 25-14, 25-20, and 25-18. The offensive attack was lead by junior Lauren Tassone (Venetia, PA, Peters Township) and junior Paige Misawic (Levittown, PA, Pennsbury). Tassone lead the team with 9 kills and Misawic lead the team with 21 assists, as well as tallying 7 kills. Junior Renee' Ault (Oakmont, PA, Riverview) registered 8 kills, and freshman Autumn Karlheim (Patton, PA, Cambria Heights) registered 7 kills. Freshman Marla Shaffer (Allentown, PA, Whitehall) led the team in serving with 3 aces. Ault and sophomore Erica Bosh (Pittsburgh, PA, Keystone Oaks) each led the team with 11 digs on defense.

The Bobcat's second game of the day was another very close match once again going down to the fifth set against Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. The first four sets were very close with Massachusetts winning the first and third set with a score of 25-21, and the Bobcats winning the second set 25-23 and the fourth set 27-25. Unlike the first four sets, Massachusetts dominated the fifth set winning 15-1. Ault and Julie Barron (Somerset, PA, Somerset) each lead the team with 9 kills. Misawic assisted on 21 of the total kills, which was tops on the team. Tassone tallied the most digs on the team with 23, but Ault followed closely registering 22 digs on the night.

Pitt-Greensburg will be looking for its first win of the season in their home opener against Point Park University on Wednesday September 9th at 7pm.
